Greenbelt Crime: Armed Robbery, Bike Burglaries Reported

A look at the crime reported between Dec. 6 through Dec. 12 in Greenbelt, MD.

Greenbelt police reported to the scene of several crimes last week including a series of bike thefts.

Center City

Dec. 6, 6 p.m. An armed robbery was reported in the 7900 block of Belle Point Drive. The victim told police five suspects entered their business displayed a handgun and took the victim’s property.

Dec. 7, 2:04 a.m. DUI/DWI Arrest off Kenilworth Avenue at Old Calvert Road. A 36-year-old Washington, DC man was arrested and charged with a DUI and DWI, among other charges after a traffic stop, police said.

Dec. 7, 11:08 a.m. A burglary was reported in 22 court Hillside Road. Travis Demetrius Avery, 21, of Greenbelt, was arrested and charged with theft scheme over $1000, 4th degree burglary and conspiracy to commit theft, among other charges after police said he was found in possession of stolen bicycles. The suspect was released to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.

Dec. 8, 4:26 p.m.: A burglary was reported in 1 court Gardenway. It was reported that a bicycle was taken from a garage, police said. The bicycle was later recovered after it had been abandoned near Plateau Place. No arrests were made.

Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m. DUI/DWI Arrest off Kenilworth Avenue at Crescent Road. A 38-year-old Lanham man was arrested and charged with a DUI and DWI, among other charges after a traffic stop.

Dec. 10, 9:47 a.m. Police are investigating the vandalism of the Northway ball fields. Damage was found to the grass of the ball fields.

Dec. 10, 6:40 p.m. A burglary was reported in 20 court Hillside Road. A bicycle was taken from a yard.

Dec. 10, 10:10 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a report of trespassing in the 6400 block of Capitol Drive. A 55-year-old College Park woman was arrested and charged for trespassing on private property.

Dec. 11, 2:26 a.m. DUI/DWI Arrest off Ridge Road at Ivy Lane. A 26-year-old Greenbelt man was arrested and charged with a DUI and DWI, among other charges during the traffic stp.

Dec. 11, 3:05 p.m. A burglary was reported in 60 court Crescent Road. A bicycle was taken from a yard. Two suspects were identified and charges are pending, police said.

Franklin Park, Beltway Plaza, Greenbelt Metro

Dec. 7, 9:47 a.m. A burglary was reported in the 6100 block of Breezewood Drive. Victims reported that electronics were among the items taken.

Dec. 7, 3:11 p.m. Police responded to a report of trespassing in the 6200 block of Breezewood Drive. A 21-year-old Hyattsville man was charged in the case.

Dec. 8, 1:12 a.m. DUI/DWI Arrest in the 5700 block of Cherrywood Lane. A 23-year-old Upper Marlboro man was arrested and charged with a DUI, DWI  and possesion of drug paraphernalia, among other charges.

Dec. 8. 7:49 p.m. DUI/DWI Arrest in the 6000 block of Greenbelt Road. A 55-year-old Berwyn Heights man was arrested and charged in a DUI and DWI.

 

Dec. 9 2:09 a.m. DUI/DWI Arrest in the 7200 block of Hanover Parkway. A 42-year-old Riverdale man was arrested and charged with a DUI, DWI.

Dec. 10, 6:25 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a report of a disturbance in the 6000 block of Greenbelt Road. A non-resident juvenile was petitioned for disorderly conduct and released to a guardian. A hearing is pending.

Dec. 12, 9:34 p.m. Police arrested a 19-year-old Lanham teen and charged him with possesion of drug paraphernalia.

Greenbelt East

Dec. 8, 12:43 a.m. A 25-year-old District Heights woman was charged with disorderly conduct.

Dec. 10, 11:58 p.m. A 30-year-old Brentwood man was arrested and charged for possession of marijuana.

Dec. 12, 12:32 p.m. Police said stolen tags were recovered Stolen Tag off Hanover Parkway at Lake Park Drive. A 39-year-old Capitol Heights man was arrested and charged with theft under $100.
