Following four months in jail and another on house arrest, DNA evidence exonerated Sheldon Snead, of Laurel, and K'Vaughn Brandon Hines, of Mount Rainer, ABC7 reported.

After a second bond review with no bail given, Hines said, "I was trying to get used to being in jail for rest of my life. I wanted to commit suicide," the Gazette reports.

Hines said he lost his apartment and job, and had to give away his dog, according to the Gazette, which talked to him a little more than a month after being freed on June 29.

The Gazette said Hines believed he faced life in prison had he been convicted, and said he experienced death threats and fights while in prison.

Sneed felt helpless, according to ABC7's report. “One thing I learned when I was incarcerated is you can't get back what's lost," Sneed said, but added that he was going to go forward.

"Sometimes I just sit in the dark, but I’m just going to take my blessings and run with it because it could have been way worse,” said Hines, who is thankful for the DNA testing, according to the Gazette.
