Police say alcohol was a contributing factor in Monday’s double fatal accident on Lanham-Severn Road in Glenn Dale and that the driver of one of the vehicles is facing multiple charges related to the crash.
Ramon Anaya-Ascendo, 35, of no fixed address, is being charged with two counts of homicide by motor vehicle, two counts of driving a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, and two counts of vehicular manslaughter, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.
Police said Anaya-Ascendo was driving a Honda Accord when he crossed in front of a westbound Audi A6, causing the Audi to crash into the passenger’s side of the Honda.
Anaya-Ascendo's passengers—Lanham residents Leo Castro, 46, and Jose Rodrigeuez, 30—were both taken to a local hospital following the crash, where they were pronounced dead.
Police said alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash. Anaya-Ascendo and the driver of the Audi both sustained serious, but not life threatening injuries, according to an earlier police account.
