Bel Air Man Gets 10 Years For Dealing Pain Killers

Ronnie Stocks was charged in 2011 along with 13 others as a result of a large-scale wiretap investigation conducted by the Harford County Drug Task Force.

A Bel Air man was sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison for his role in a prescription drug operation rooted in Harford County.

Ronnie Stocks, 34, of Bel Air, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake to 126 months in jail, followed by three years of supervised release, for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, according to a statement from Maryland U.S. Attorney's Office.

According to his guilty plea, Stocks got oxycodone from about 12 sources in 2010 and 2011 and distributed those pills to 36 people for about $100 at a time.

During the investigation conducted by the Harford County Drug Task Force, some of Stocks' customers told investigators the details of purchases while a court approved wiretap of his cell phone recorded Stocks conducting dozens of transactions, prosecutors said.

Shortly before his arrest in April 2011, law enforcement learned Stocks sold a firearm. After his arrest police, searched Stocks' home and vehicle where they found more than 40 oxycodone pills, the statement said.

In addition to Stocks, 13 other people were arrested after what police called one of the largest drug investigations conducted in Harford County.

At the time of his arrest, Stocks was identified as the leader of the drug operation, police said.

"Get real" In life people make mistakes and bad decisions , that does not mean that they are bad people. Im sure some of you and people you know have made some decisions that they are not happy with and that decision they made affected their life dramaticly.Harford co spent a lot of money investigating the so called drug ring , to me it looks more like a bunch of addicts trying to get high for free or on someone elses money.they had to put on a big show to justify all of our money they spent on these guys while under investigation and wiretaps, all the man hours ect..im sure that played a big role in his sentence. Its soooo easy to get into a life style , but after a while most people dont have any clue on how to get out and how to change it for the better.I feel for mommy and her kid, i know what it feels like to b a single parent and to not have a father figure in your life. Befor someone passes judement on someone or someones family , sitback and think, things like this could could happen to you and anybody you know , we are all human and no ones perfect.....

Sorry but not everyone uses drugs, it just does not happen and if you are on tape setting up meetings and have 2000 pills you are a dealer and therefore not innocent, Some were using their product and some were in it for the money. The ones in it for the money were driving new vehicles with fancy toys and are real easy to spot. Junkies drive clapped out cars or have no car at all. Harford co spends alot of money doing everything thats how they justify their budget and the high taxes we pay.

I think the sentence was a little harsh. and although ronnie was obviously misguided he is not the type of criminal that deserves this type of a prison sentence.
