32 Arrested in Warrant Sweeps With Greenbelt and Glenarden Police

Twenty-two arrests were made in Greenbelt.

Sheriff’s Office Warrant Squad Deputies closed 36 warrants and three juvenile writs in a two-city warrant sweep operation with the Greenbelt and Glenarden police departments, according to Sgt. Yakeisha Hines, spokesman for Prince George's County Sheriff's Office.

In each city, the warrant teams were comprised of Sheriff’s Warrant Squad Deputies and municipal police officers, Hines said.

In the City of Greenbelt, the team was lead by Capt. Kemp where 22 arrests were made, she added.

“These joint operations are productive,” Greenbelt City Police Chief Craze said. “The City of Greenbelt benefits and the sheriffs serve the court’s orders. These are good arrest numbers and I think that will continue.”

The operation was the third with the City of Glenarden Police Department where the team made 10 arrests, Hines said.

“We’ve done three sweeps with sheriff’s deputies now; it works for the sheriff and it works for us," Chief of Police O’Donnell said. "We get a great deal done by joining forces.”

Colonel Kenneth Payne, Bureau Chief of Field Operations at the Sheriff’s Office said there were over 83 attempts to serve warrants, according to Hines. “With the exception of the two juvenile writs that were for robbery, all of the arrests were for criminal misdemeanors,” Payne said.
