POLL: Do You Wanna Wawa?

The Pennsylvania-based gas station chain could be coming to this area.

News from the International Council of Shopping Centers Mid-Atlantic Conference has filtered out that Wawa, a convenience store/gas station chain, could be expanding into the DC area.

Wawa has a strong following of customers in Pennsylvania, where it's based, and equally strong competition from Sheetz, a similar chain of gas stations.

Often open 24-hours, the one-stop-shops both offer a surprisingly wide variety of made to order food that, from experience, isn't your typical gas station food.

Would you like to see a Wawa in this area? How about a Sheetz? How about both?

Take our poll and let us know!

My only concern is the staffing . . . the new Wawa in Beltsville is chronically short-staffed and wait times for food orders and registers are longer than is typical at other Wawa locations.

Wawa has been in this area for a long time. There was one in College Park for the longest which closed down a few years back.

Right. Wawa's been here forever. Not the big gas stations, just the convenience stores. I still miss the hoagies at the old College Park location (though Generous Joe's are just as good). So yeah, bring 'em on. But then, I grew up down the Pike from the Wawa Dairy: "To the American Indian, Wawa Meant Wild Goose; To You, It Means the Finest in Milk."

I used to go to the one in College Park, it was handy. What Wawa is considering is expanding in this area - they already have some stores.

WaWa anywhere in the center of Old Greenbelt by the Co-Op would be a dream come true. Alas though, it will never occur. ;-(
