Finally, my Sundays are complete again. The Greenbelt Farmers Market is back.

Yes, sometimes the convenience of the Greenbelt Farmer's Market causes me to eat ice cream for breakfast. What of it.

Last fall when the Greenbelt Farmers Market closed for the season, I was devastated. May 8, 2011 seemed so far away.

Every Sunday morning over the winter, I stood at my front window with a tear in my eye as I touched the window longingly, yearning for the return of the farmers market. And, now, finally, the farmers market is back and I couldn't be happier.

For the past two summers we've lived in Old Greenbelt, I've spent many a summer Sunday morning at the Greenbelt Farmers Market.

I always get my bread for the week from Stone Hearth Bakery. I replenish my soap supply with soaps from the Mystic Water Soap stand. When I discovered the pre-made salmon cakes from Two Oceans True Food/Carriage House Farms, I was hooked. When the crepe stand first showed up at the farmers market, I nearly fainted with excitement. And the freshly squeezed lemonade makes me do a happy dance when I drink it.

I also love looking around the farmers market to see if I discover anything new — any fruits or vegetables I've never tried.

Like the time I saw purple beans for sale. They looked just like green beans, except they were a beautiful rich dark purple. I'd never seen purple beans before. I bought some and decided to make them for dinner. That night, I dropped them into the steamer and when I checked on them a few minutes later, they had turned green. They looked just like regular green beans! Where did the purple go? I was devastated. I still ate them, but I did so begrudgingly.

Sometimes having such easy and convenient access to a farmers market can be a bad thing. I'm embarrassed to admit that sometimes I've had ice cream for breakfast from the Simple Pleasure Ice Cafe. Their ice cream can be very difficult to resist.

Temptation to eat ice cream for breakfast aside, I'm so glad the farmers market has reopened for the season. I don't usually look forward to standing in line but I'm so excited that I can now spend my Sunday mornings waiting in the crepe line again. It's been far too long.

Peace and love.
