Mishkan Torah to Sponsor Potluck Supper and Family Service for Jewish New Year of The Trees

Mishkan Torah to sponsor potluck supper and family service for Jewish New Year of the Trees.

The Karp Family School of will be holding its annual Tu B'Shvat Seder in conjunction with its monthly family service on Friday, February 3 at 6 p.m. The Tu B’Shvat Seder is a wonderful communal potluck dining experience and it celebrates the New Year of the Trees, the Jewish equivalent of Arbor Day.

It features four cups of wine (actually grape juice!); the tasting of all kinds of fruits and nuts from trees; songs; and dance. The event will also explore how Jewish environmentalism has developed over the centuries.

The monthly Shabbat family service will begin immediately after the conclusion of the Seder at 7:30 p.m. Please bring either a dairy or meatless pareve dish to pass for the Seder. For the potluck, the kitchen will be off-limits, and anything commercially prepared must have a kosher heckshar.
