Greenway Learning Center Is Collecting Candy for the Troops

It's a great idea for those Halloween leftovers.

Do you have some leftover candy that is looking for a worthy cause?

is collecting treats for the troops to be sent overseas with the help of the United Methodist Church in Laurel, Maryland.

"We figured we got so much candy here at Halloween, that it was our time to give back," Patti Smith, center director, said.

The kids have even made little hand print flags to go with the candy bags, so the troops will know that it came from them.

"I'm sure after eating MRE's they'll be glad to get a couple of Snickers," Smith said.

Friday, Veterans Day, is the last day to drop your candy off before it's sent overseas to hand out to service men and women. The center will be open until 6 p.m.
