Greenbelt Kittens and Dog Named Mia Seeking Home

A dozen spring kittens and a dog whose family moved overseas are at the Greenbelt Animal Shelter.

Kittens by the Dozen

Now through October lots of kittens will be born in Greenbelt, MD, and the already has 12, according to Kim DeAngelis, shelter manager.

"We have everything," she said, listing calico, tortie, black, black and white, and gray tiger kittens. They're around 8-weeks and they have tested negative for feline AIDS and leukemia, she reported.

They're all friendly, DeAngelis said, adding "They're ready to go now if you want them."

Mia is a sweet young girl whose family had to go overseas for the military, according to the Greenbelt Animal Shelter. Sadly, Mia could not join them.

She is a mix, but predominately German Shepherd, and is a bit shy. New people need to give her a couple of minutes to come to them before approaching her, DeAngelis said. But once she warms up she's fine, according to DeAngelis.

Mia likes some dogs but not all of them, D'Angelis added, explaining that she thinks this is because Mia gets protective of people very quickly.
