The Gaylord National Resort’s smash hit holiday attraction—ICE!—returns this year featuring DreamWorks’ Shrek the Halls. The annual attraction will run through Jan. 6.

Chinese artisans have hand-carved a unique, interactive indoor wonderful created entirely of ice. The 15,000 sq. ft. attraction will thrill visitors as they walk through a frozen world of life-size, colorful ice sculptures made from 2 million pounds of ice, all kept at a frigid 9 degrees.

Visitors will enter Shrek’s swampy world and walk through larger-than-life scenes that re-create the storyline of the 2007 “Shrek the Halls” animated TV special. The story follows Shrek as he tries to plan the “perfect Christmas” for Fiona and the kids, only to have plans disrupted by chaos and commotion. But, in the end, Shrek learns the true meaning of the holiday.

This annual event is becoming a National Harbor annual tradition for many families. Be sure to bundle up—hats and gloves are a must—as you walk through the exhibit. Each guest will be given a parka to wear over their own coats. There are also slides made entirely of ice that you won’t want to miss!

Oh, and make sure to visit the lobby of the Gaylord National, which is also decked out for the holidays! It has two million twinkling lights, amazing nightly indoor snowfall, beautiful dancing fountains set to the season’s most loved music, a stunning 60-foot glass Tree of Light, and exclusive holiday events and attractions for the entire family.

The Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center is located at National Harbor, Md. For information, visit www.ChristmasonthePotomac.com.

Has anyone been to this event? We want to bring our boys, 4 and 5.5, but want to make sure it's little kid friendly.

@Jenni, I'm going to do a review next week and possibly have some passes for FREE admission! But yes, I have friends whose 4 year old daughter went and LOVED it!
