The clinic is close to public transportation— the Metro bus drops off passengers near the clinic and the Greenbelt Metro station is only minutes away.

The clinic raised $2.3 million for construction costs and an initial operating budget with support from several medical organizations, including CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, United Health Foundation, Adventist HealthCare, Dimensions Healthcare System and Riverside Health, as well as Prince George's County.

Richard Reeves, the president of Maryland Medicaid Managed Care for United Healthcare, said that the clinic will be a comfort to the community.

"Patients coming here will have peace of mind knowing they will receive high quality healthcare services," Reeves said.

County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III said that the facility will do more than just improve health in the Franklin Park neighborhood.

"Healthcare drives everything," Baker said. "Access to affordable, quality healthcare when it's needed will help us increase test scores and help us decrease crime in Prince George's County."

Baker praised the clinic's effort to reach out to all residents by employing bilingual staff members. According to CCI, 92 percent of their employees are bilingual.

"In this community and county, that's so necessary," Baker said.

Following the opening ceremony, the clinic hosted a Community Health Fair, where members of the Franklin Park community could receive a basic health screening and information about health-related services.
