You don't have to travel far on Earth Day, Saturday, April 21. From a lake walk, to celebrations with food and festivities, to a rain garden planting and tours - it's all happening here in Greenbelt.
Three Lakes Walk
Join a free walk that starts at Schrom Hill Lake and continues on to and to the fountain pond by — before heading to your final destination at the Springhill Lake Recreation Center.
Anytime between 9 a.m. and noon: Meet by the pavilion at , where the Three Lakes Walk begins. You can start once you register.
When you finish the walk and arrive at the , a shuttle will be waiting to take you back to Schrom Hills Park up until 3 p.m. — or you can stick around and enjoy the festivities at Springhill Lake, which include the center's rededication, as well as its Celebration of Spring and Earth Day events.
Springhill Lake Free Festivities
1:45 - 2 p.m.: Rededication of Springhill Lake Recreation Center - Enjoy a ribbon cutting, photo montage and guided tours.
2 p.m.: Earth Day Celebration - Help plant shrubs and flowers for a new rain garden at the end of the parking lot.
Around 3 p.m.: In recognition of Arbor Day, a tree will be planted near the rain garden.
2 - 6 p.m.: Celebration of Spring

- enjoy inflatable bounce houses
- watch the Sity Stars perform
- see the Eleanor Roosevelt High School Step Club in action
- make and take art projects
- enjoy a Wii video game truck
- hear a steel drum band
- from 2 - 4 p.m — enjoy hot dogs, chips and water
