Greenbelt American Legion Hosts Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

Greenbelters and friends are invited to a Memorial Day ceremony and luncheon, hosted by the American Legion.

 

The will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony at Roosevelt Center Monday at 10 a.m.

Members of the public are welcome to join the legion for a solemn remembrance and traditional service honoring American military men and women who sacrificed their lives for their country.

People who attend the service are invited back to the Post Home for a luncheon. And in case of implement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Post Home.

American Legion Post 136 in Greenbelt has around 1,700 members. They host the Memorial Day event along with an offering of local programs and community service events.

"We believe in America and what it stands for. 'What We Do' is done so that we have the means to support the programs that help America stay strong," notes the legion's website. "It takes some work, time and dedication to do what we do, but those who help get a genuine feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction in doing something helpful for the community."
