Rafael's Race 5K/1K run-walk

Bearing the name of Greenbelt Elementary School student Rafael Martins, who passed away two and a half years ago, Rafael's Race is a celebration of life and community. Last year, thanks to the teachers who led the way and to our hardworking volunteers, the race raised more than $4,000!

That money went right back to the school, helping to offset field trip costs and thereby allowing teachers plan meaningful field trips for our children.

Take a look at Greenbelt Elementary School's website for more information on the 2012 race.

Please join me in supporting the 2nd Annual Rafael's Race, Oct. 20, 2012. Whether you are a runner or a walker, we hope you'll lend a hand for pre-race planning activities such as organizing door prizes and drawings and food/refreshments, or helping out on the morning of the race with registration/check-in and placement along the course to help runners.

Check out the various tasks that you can help with on the VolunteerSpot website.

Your support of the event will help us to continue to remember Rafael and his sunny and happy outlook on life. We can all learn a lot from how he approached life's challenges.
