Exploring All The King's Men
On Friday, November 9, Explorations Unlimited welcomes Jim Link and his presenation on All The King's Men, a political thriller based on Robert Penn Warren's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same title. The movie won the Best Picture Oscar in 1949. Broderick Crawford won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Willie Stark, the naive idealistic back woods lawyer who morphs into the corrupt governor of Louisiana, modeled on the career of Huey P. "Kingfish" Long. In her debut, Mercedes McCambridge won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar! John Ireland and Joanne Dru also give excellent performances. "All power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely."
