What's Up With the Green Line: Weekend of June 3 through June 5

Get your farecards early, both ways, if you're traveling Saturday -- and you may want to pack some extra time, if you're transferring to work zones on the Blue or Red lines this weekend.

What's up with the Green Line and Metro this weekend? Well, for starters don't wait to buy your farecards Saturday morning because there could be a line. It's the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure, and some people may decide -- you've got to Metro before you can run.

To accommodate the expected influx of participants and supporters, Metro will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., Saturday. The race itself begins at 8 a.m. with events following throughout the morning. It takes place between 3rd and 7th streets, NW, between Madison Drive and Jefferson Avenue, in downtown Washington, D.C.

Smithsonian, Federal Center SW and Archives-Navy Mem'l-Penn Quarter stations are expected to be some of the busiest stations on race day. Metro advises customers to consider exiting or entering at other nearby, less crowded stations.
