What’s Up with the Green Line: Long Weekend of Sept. 2-5

The Green Line forecast is good for this three-day weekend, unless you're transferring to a work zone hot spot.

What’s up with the Green Line? We’ve got a work-free weekend, but if you’re planning to transfer to Orange, Blue or Red line trains – keep a lookout for work zone hot spots.

Orange Line – 8 p.m. Friday through closing Monday (Labor Day)

  • Free shuttle buses will replace trains between East Falls Church and West Falls Church stations due to construction related to the Dulles extension. The stations theselves will remain open.
  • The last train will depart Vienna 20 minutes earlier than usual—at 2:08 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights and at 11:08 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Trains will share one track between Vienna and West Falls Church stations, while Metro replaces cross ties and insulators.
  • Customers traveling through the work zone should allow about 30 minutes of additional travel time.

Blue Line – 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Monday (Labor Day)

  • Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn Street stations will be closed as Metro installs new track switches.
  • All Blue Line trains will operate to and from Huntington station, with service about every 20 minutes, according to Metro.
  • Free shuttle buses will operate between Franconia-Springfield and Eisenhower Avenue stations via the Van Dorn Street station.
  • Customers using shuttle buses should allow 30 minutes of additional travel time, Metro advises.
