What's Up With the Green Line: Weekend Track Work

Veterans Day weekend has major track work in store for the Green Line from November 10-13.

The Green Line is slated for some serious work Veterans Day weekend, and the work starts Thursday night. North end stations—including Greenbelt, College Park, Prince George's Plaza and West Hyattsville—should have an easier time of it than stops closer to the southern end of the Green Line, where the work is focused—between L’Enfant and Southern Avenue stations.

Four stations will be closed: Waterfront, Navy Yard, Anacostia and Congress Heights.

If you're hoping to use the southern end of the Green Line or transferring to the Red Line, delays might occur.

Green and Yellow Line – from 10 p.m., Thursday through closing on Sunday

  • Buses will replace Green Line trains between L’Enfant Plaza and Southern Avenue stations to allow for NTSB-recommended switch replacement.
  • Four stations will be closed: Waterfront, Navy Yard, Anacostia and Congress Heights.
  • Green Line trains will operate in two sections—between Greenbelt and Huntington and between Branch Avenue and Southern Avenue.

Yes, you read right, Green Line trains will be running on the Yellow Line track. This means if you’re headed south on the Green Line and want to get off at L’Enfant Plaza to switch to the Green Line, just stay on board — you’ll get there.

  • These are the last trains that will make it through the stations designated for closure, as work will commence after these trains pass through:
