What's Up With the Green Line Oct. 21-23: Weekend Forecast

Major work being done on the Red, Green and Blue lines of the Metro this weekend.

If you plan on riding the Metro into the city this weekend, expect delays.

Metro will be undergoing major track work on the Green, Red and Blue lines this weekend.

Green Line: From 10 p.m. on Friday until closing on Sunday, Green Line trains will operate every 16-20 minutes. Green Line trains will share one track between Fort Totten and Prince George’s Plaza stations as maintenance workers conduct rail renewal work. Riders should allow 20 minutes of additional travel time.

Yellow Line: Yellow Line trains will also operate every 16-20 minutes from 10 p.m. Friday until closing on Sunday. Trains will only operate between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Square. Allow 20 minutes of additional travel time.

Blue Line: Throughout the weekend, Blue Line trains will run every 20 minutes. The Line will share one track between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road to make repairs on “floating” slabs underneath the rails. Again, Metro recommends an additional 20 minutes of travel time.

Red Line: Most of the repairs are happening on the Red Line. Expect long waits on this line. Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland stations will be closed. Shuttle buses will be provided between Fort Totten and New York Avenue stations. Metro advises riders to avoid the work area by connecting to the Green Line and travelling between Gallery Place and Fort Totten. Service will operate regularly between Shady Grove and New York Avenue and also between Glenmont and Fort Totten. Customers planning on using shuttle buses should allow 30 minutes of additional travel time.
