Water Turned Off at Pinecrest Court

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission has turned off the water for homes in the Pinecrest Court area.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission shut off the water for residents in the area of Pinecrest Court Monday.

Earlier reports stated the shut off was due to a water main break, but according to WSSC public affairs manager John White, the outage is for discoloration of the water.

"They shut the water off because there was some discoloration in the water, then they started digging in that section to see if there is anything else going," White said. "They will turn the water back on tonight, but then off again tomorrow to replace that section of pipe."

White said residents should expect the water to be back on this evening and turned off again after "rush hour" tomorrow morning. He said that approximately 10 residents who will be affected by this will be notified of the shut off.

WSSC was set to begin road resurfacing in the Boxwood and Lakewood neighborhoods where water line work has been done over the past year, according to the city of Greenbelt site. Milling began Monday and will be followed by resurfacing Wednesday.
