Two Prince George's Groups Earn Grants for War of 1812 Projects
The two groups were awarded $185,000 total for the bicentennial.
Two Prince George's County organizations earned grant money for their bicentennial projects Wednesday.
The Anacostia Trails Heritage Area received $125,000 to support their Prince George's County War of 1812 Commemoration and George and Carmel D. Aman Memorial Trust received $60,000 for the War of 1812 Battle of Bladensburg Monument.
The grants were presented Wednesday by Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. and Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) Secretary Dominick Murray, along with grants for 20 other organizations and projects in Maryland totaling $2.1 million.

"The War of 1812 in the Chesapeake and the writing of The Star-Spangled Banner are important chapters in our history as a State and as a Nation," Miller said. "I want to thank the grant recipient organizations for their commitment to telling this story and the important contributions of our Star-Spangled State."
