The Greenbelt Animal Shelter Has 9 Kittens

June is National-Adopt-A-Cat month, and you need look no further than Greenbelt to find a furry friend.

June is National Adopt-A-Cat Month. This weekend we'll introduce you to Bonnie the Torti at the , who's on the lookout for a good home.

In the meantime, Patch just got word Wednesday from Kim DeAngelis, manager of the Greenbelt Animal Shelter, that they have extra large number of kittens.

Eight of these cuddly furballs were rescued this week, DeAngelis said, adding they came from all parts of Greenbelt , east, west and center.

The American Humane Association reports that each spring, during what they call "kitten season," thousands of newborn kittens end up in shelters.

  • Budget for the short- and long-term costs of a cat.
  • Stock up on supplies before the cat arrives.
  • Cat-proof your home.
  • Go slowly when introducing your cat to new friends and family.
  • Be sure to include your new pet in your family’s emergency plan.
  • If you’re considering giving a cat as a gift, make sure the recipient is an active participant in the adoption process.
