Update, 6:15 p.m.: The National Weather Service (NWS) said radar indicated another round of showers and thunderstorms is developing over southern Maryland. It responded by extending the flood warning until 8:30 p.m. for Prince George’s County and much of the area.

A flash flood watch will remain in effect until 2 a.m. Friday for Prince George’s County and much of the area, as well.

Although streams continue to recede, they remain high, according to the NWS, which forecasted that the development of new rain would likely slow the fall of high water.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding; a dangerous situation.
