National Weather Service Issues Weather Warnings

Watch out for flooded roadways and severe thunderstorms, says the National Weather Service.

Update, 4:45 p.m.:

The threat of thunderstorms will remain in effect through much of the evening, according to the National Weather Service's hazardous-weather outlook.

There is now a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Eastern Prince George's County.

Locations impacted include Annapolis, Rhode River, South River, Severn River, Mayo, Galesville and Shady Side, according to NWS.

"This is a dangerous storm," warns NWS, involving "frequent cloud to ground lightning."

"Move indoors to a sturdy building and stay away from windows."

The warning is set to expire at 4:45 p.m.

Update, 4:10 p.m.:

The National Weather Service has also issued a special weather statement, indicating that "strong thunderstorms" may impact Prince George's County.

Original Post: The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash-flood warning for north central Prince George’s County, with at least one report of a vehicle being swept off a roadway.

Areas marked for heavy rain include those between the I-95 Corridor and Baltimore-Washington Parkway, according to NWS. 

“Do not drive your car into areas where water covers the roadway,” warns NWS.

The warning is sheduled to expire at 6:15 p.m.
