Update: Power Restored to Greenbelt

Pepco is reporting that less than five people are without power in the Greenbelt area.

6:02 p.m.— Pepco is saying power has been restored to customers in the Greenbelt area. They are reporting on five people are without power.

4:58 p.m.—Hundreds of Greenbelt area residents are without power, according to Pepco's outage maps.

According to Pepco, 695 customers are without power in the following zip codes: 20737, 20740, 20742 and 20770.

Pepco also reports 147 without power in zip code 20705.

"The numbers seemed to have jumped in Prince George's in the last five or 10 minutes," said Bob Hainey, spokesman for Pepco. "It looks like Kettering got hit pretty bad, but in Montgomery County it's widespread."

Only 129 people in DC were out of power, by comparison, Hainey said. 

"We're making repairs as we can, as the weather permits." Hainey continued. "What stops us from working is basically high winds—if we don't sustain high winds, then trucks can get out there."
