Get Your Groove on With This Great Escape

I'm excited to offer Greenbelt's as this week's Great Escape. What's a bonus is that this business is local, started and owned by a woman—and a Greenbelter as well. Oh, and somehow, along with running the business and teaching classes, she's also a new mama. 

Owner Samantha Fitschen has put together some "great escape" deals, so you can escape while dancing yourself away. Check these classes out, grab a friend, or just some comfy clothes and boogie on down to start your dancing.

Goddess Dance

Want to dance like a goddess?

Goddess Dance offers women the chance to move to their groove in a jazz dance class and wear comfy clothes—props like fans and scarves are provided. Classes are offered Mondays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The drop-in fee is $17 a class but mention "Greenbelt's getaway" and drop-in for only $10. The summer term runs from June 20 to July 30.

Adult Choreographers Workshop

Make up an original dance at the Adult Choreographers Workshop (ACW), working with jazz and modern dance, the group will choose a three-minute piece of music, and with instruction over a weekend, put together their original dance. The cost is regularly $200 but mention "Greenbelt's getaway" and save $30.

Friday, June 17, 7-9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and June 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pre-registration required.

Adult Week-Long Intensive (AWI)

Adults can dance all week long! Enjoy several lively dance styles: jazz, music theater, hip-hop and contemporary. You will prepare a dance piece to perform in an informal presentation on Friday evening at 7 p.m. Some dance class experience is recommended. Come for a half day only or dance all day and save. From Aug. 1 to Aug. 5, the cost is $340 for the whole week but mention "Greenbelt's getaway" and save $40. Pre-registration is required.
