Get Out: Greenbelt Weekend Events

Check out some of the events in and around Greenbelt this weekend, Friday, Aug. 19, through Sunday, Aug. 21

Family Night at the Aquatic and Fitness Center

• FRIDAY
• 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• $3 per family (including passholders) and additional non-family guests can join in the fun for $1
• In the event that bad weather tries to ruin the night, the fun will be moved to the center's indoor facility.

Keltish

• FRIDAY
• 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
• Hear Celtic tunes with a fun and modern twist. Come early, and from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. listen to , house pianist, play jazz and blues.
• The New Deal generously keeps events open to all with no cover charges. Don't forget to show your thanks and tip the artists.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

• FRIDAY and SATURDAY, plus running for two more weekends
• 8 p.m.
• Greenbelt Arts Center
• Tickets are $15; and $12 for students and seniors
• Guest produced by The Rude Mechanicals
• If you think that this is going to be a classic re-telling of the play, you’re in for a surprise. This production puts a twist on the plot by setting the story in Las Vegas.

Great Greenbelt Volksmarchers Sunrise Walk

• SATURDAY
• Registration begins as early as 6 a.m. and ends at noon, with the walk concluding at 3 p.m.
• Starts and finishes at Buddy Attick Park
• Walkers can choose either a 5K or a 10K route

Ice Cream Social Fundraiser for the Greenbelt Farmers Market

Alight Dance Theater on the Sylvan Theater Stage

• SATURDAY
• 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• National Mall on the Sylvan Theater stage, located near the base of the Washington Monument
• They'll be dancing along with more than 100 other dancers from all over the U.S.

 Greenbelt American Legion All-You-Can-Eat Crabs

• SUNDAY
• 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• $40.00 per person
