GATE TV Studio to Hold Nonprofit Day Saturday

Nonprofit organizations will get the chance to produce free PSAs with help from GATE.

The Greenbelt Access Television (GATE) Studio will be holding a Nonprofit Day on Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. Based on “first come, first served," representatives of Greenbelt-based, nonprofit organizations will have a window of time to present a short, 30-second to one-minute Public Service Announcement, which will be taped, edited and shown between programs on the GATE Channels Comcast 77 and Verizon Fios 19. Events targeted for promotion should be no less than a week out.

After March, the next GATE Nonprofit Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 21.

Presenters should bring a draft script, including who they are, a brief description of the mission or event to be publicized, and contact information. Any additional supporting pictures should be brought as jpegs on a CD. GATE DOES NOT recommend wearing all black, all white, or small patterns as they do not videotape well.

A professional grade, Autoscript teleprompter is available, so there is no need to memorize a script though GATE recommends a certain “familiarity” with the contents.

Law prohibits GATE from promoting commercial organizations or commercial events including raffles, sales, and lotteries.
