Update: Flash Flood Watch in Effect Until Wednesday Afternoon

Rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected.

Update, Sept. 6, 7:34 a.m.: The flash flood watch has been extended into Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The average rainfall through Tuesday will be 2 to 4 inches.

Portions of the I-95 corridor already received between 1 to 2 inches Monday.

Original post, Sept. 5, 8:08 a.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Prince George's County and the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area from Monday evening through Tuesday evening.

Showers are expected across the area and will be the result of remnants of Tropical Storm Lee mixing with a slow moving cold front. Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected.

Heavy rain may cause creeks and streams to rise quickly. Motorists are advised not to drive through streets covered in water.
