There's a New Deal on Tap in Old Greenbelt

New things are abrew with the beer at the New Deal Cafe.

You may have noticed the new stage lights at the , but have you also caught something new abrew in the brew?

According to bar manager, Amethyst Dwyer, the excess foam of days gone by turned out to be a temperature problem with the kegorater. You heard right: k-e-g-o-r-a-t-e-r. Doesn't just the sound of it make you have to have one?

Perched atop a bar stool, Greenbelter, Kirk Tanter, announced of the new cool brew, "Excellent, this is Maryland beer."

Though the bubbles have diminished, the price hasn't. The beer tax went up, Dwyer said. But the New Deal responded in a manner befitting its name.

"In order to alleviate the financial hardships on our customers because the beer tax went up, we lowered the price of our beer by a penny," Meredith said, before breaking into laughter with Dwyer and Tanter.

Taking the names on those involved, your ace Patch reported quickly scribbled down Tanter's name and warned him his laugh would make the beer report.

Referencing correlations between the Great Depression and the beer tax hike, Dwyer praised the penny reduction, pointing out, "This is the New Deal after all." Her chums burst out in merriment, yet again.

"I'm still laughing," Tanter told to the note taking journalist, who was offerred a free taste of the new less foamy local micro-brewed beer.

Trained that professional journalists don't accept gifts, your committed Patch reporter turned the generous offer down. Beer making is a serious enterprise after all. Plus how just does one imbibe and go on to successfully spell kegorater?

Cold beer on tap, minus excess foam is going at $3.99 at the New Deal Cafe.
