Residents' Commutes May Be Affected By Bus Strike

More than 100 TheBus drivers went on strike today, causing a reshuffling in routes.

Frequent bus riders will find that TheBus is either not coming at all today or will arrive more-than-fashionably late because of recent strikes.

The Washington Post reported earlier Monday that more than 100 drivers, operating 26 routes in Prince George's County, have slowed or halted bus service completely.

According to Teamsters Local 639 president Thomas "Tommy" Ratliff, the Veolia Transportation contract that runs TheBus for the county ended June 30, and members have been in the process of negotiating health insurance, higher wages and changes in the disciplinary policy.
