Reel & Meal at the New Deal: Film, Why We Fight

The Reel and Meal at the New Deal will show the film "Why We Fight" at 7:00 pm on Monday, June 18 at the New Deal Cafe. This event is one in a series of monthly films that explores environmental and social justice issues. Chef Karim will prepare an optional vegan meal for $13.00 (no credit cards) starting at 6:30 pm. There is no charge to see the film.

The film Why We Fight examines the rising influence of the military-industrial complex on a series of American wars since World War II. The War on Terror poses a special dilemma. Because of the elusive nature of its enemy (no national capital to conquer, no leader to overthrow and no single enemy who can surrender) and its unlimited duration and scope, the War on Terror does not provide a natural moment for a peacetime restoration of constitutional protections.

Peter Deccy, Development Director of Peace Action, will lead the discussion following the film.
