WTOP Features New Deal Café as Music Venue Winner

Following Greenbelt's "community living room" running laps around Washington music venue greats, WTOP reports its story.

The New Deal Café in Greenbelt received the most votes and is named "The Best" in WTOP's Top 10, according to WTOP. Being featured on the station's website and on the air Tuesday is part of winning.

WTOP aired its program featuring the New Deal Tuesday morning on 103.5 FM and live on WTOP's website.

The café's music coordinator, Amethyst Dwyer, tells WTOP that she was amazed, shocked and incredibly pleased to learn the café had won, WTOP reports.

"It goes to show that you don't need a 2,000-seat amphitheater or a multi- million-dollar complex in order to showcase high quality music," she says, according to WTOP's feature story.

"It is great to see a community rally around a local venue such as the New Deal Café," WTOP Director of Digital Media John Meyer says in an email to Patch on Tuesday.
