What's Up with the Green Line: Weekend of June 17 through June 19

Well Greenbelt, though yesterday was Dump the Pump day, this weekend you may want to befriend the pump, or better yet, go green and declare your own Bike Day on Saturday.

Green Line

Green Liners, it's back to work for us, or at least for our green corner of the Metro world. After enjoying carefree days of work-free weekends, Metro now has plans for us. And Greenbelt you're on the list, but only on Saturday.

From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, Green Line trains will be single tracking it between Greenbelt and College Park - U of Md. stations while Metro conducts survey work.

Metro advises Green Line riders to allow for about 10 minutes of additional travel time.

Green Liners transferring to Red, Orange or Blue Lines should also watch out for the following work zones, occurring from around 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday.

Though this weekend's work affects four lines, it is one of the shortest lists of work zones I've seen Metro announce since I've been tracking their tracks. Either that or Metro is taking up pithy.

Red Line

Red Line trains will share one track between the Van Ness-UDC and Friendship Heights stations while Metro replaces rail fasteners.

Red Line trains will also share one track between the Takoma and Forest Glen stations while Metro upgrades train control rooms.

Metro advises Red Line customers to allow for about 20 minutes of additional travel time.

Orange and Blue Lines

Orange and Blue Line trains will share one track between Eastern Market and Stadium Armory stations while Metro replaces rail fasteners.

Metro advises Blue and Orange Line customers to allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time.

Metro states the trip planner on their website will not reflect the impact of this work on its schedules. For more information on traveling by Metrobus or Metrorail, Metro states customers may call 202-637-7000 or TTY 202-638-3780, or visit metroopensdoors.com.
