Greenbelt Remembers on Memorial Day

The City's annual ceremony paid tribute to fallen veterans.

On a sunny, breezy morning, Monday, May 30, 2011,  a crowd of over 100 gathered for Greenbelt's annual Memorial Day ceremonies, sponsored by the Greenbelt American Legion Post 136. It was held in front of the Roosevelt Center at the Veterans Memorial. Special guests included Greenbelt mayor Judith "J" Davis, Mayor Pro Tem Emmett Jordan, City Council members Ed Putens, Konrad Herling, Silke Pope and Rodney Roberts, Maryland state delegate Anne Healey and numerous American veterans.

The tribute is held to remember and give thanks to veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice by losing their lives in battle.
