Greenbelt Kittens Mew for a Home

Brace yourself for the cuteness of these local kittens, housed at the Greenbelt Animal Shelter. They were trying to get my attention and play with my camera hand cord.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)  has declared June to be Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month. Shelters take in a lot of kittens in June. So if you're looking for a cat or kitten, it's a good month for it.

As of Monday, our very own has nine furry baby mewsters, including our video stars. They are so eager to play and explore their new world that seeing them in cages is a real heart tugger. But seeing them in almost any setting, is a real smile tugger too.

Thanks go to the Greenbelt Animal Shelter for keeping these girls and boys safe and fed, until some fortunate Greenbelter gives them a home. They're also being quite generous. Manager Kim DeAngelis said they're waiving the $50 fee for adoption. That's quite a bargain, considering the veterinary care these youngsters have had.

DeAngelis said they've all received rabies and distemper vaccines, as well as deworming and flea treatment. They've also been tested for Fiv and Feluk and been spayed or neutered.

In case you're wondering, DeAngelis did not negligently leave the door open. She told this kitten-loving Patch reporter that I could open the door. Instead I unlatched it, and the young'un took care of the opening, all by its furry little self.
