Here's a look at this week's kid-worthy events.

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week. You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Outdoor Roller Skating
Where/When: Springhill Lake Recreation Center (parking lot), Greenbelt, Md. Thursday, 3-5 p.m.
Why Go: Roller skates are provided free of charge or bring your own. The Thursday afternoon skating is open to ages 6-12 and concludes June 9.
Price: Free

Youth Triathalon Pre-registration
Where/When: Greenbelt Aquatic Center, Greenbelt, Md. 9:30 a.m.
Why Go: Pre-register now for the June 4 Youth Sprint Triathlon on Greenbelt Day Weekend. Kids ages 8-15 will compete in a 40-meter swim, ride 1.5 miles on their bicycles and run around the lake path at Buddy Attick Park
Price: $10 pre-registration; $15 on-site fee

A-May-Zing Animal Fest
Where/When
: Bladensburg Waterfront Park, Bladensburg, Md. Saturday, 12-4 p.m.
Why Go: Have a close encounter with live birds of prey and farm animals, take a relaxing boat ride or enjoy a puppet show. 
Price: Free

Family Campfire
Where/When: Watkins Nature Center, Upper Marlboro, Md. Friday, 7:30-9 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy nature tales and roasted marshmallows.
Price: $3 residents ages 2 and up; $4 non-residents

Around the World Embassy Tour and International Children's Festival
Where/When
: Meridian International Center, Washington, D.C. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
Why Go: This educational fair features embassy booths that highlight the cultural heritage of various countries.  The event coincides with embassy tours and an Asian street festival sponsored by Cultural Tourism DC.
Price: $10 per person; children 12 and under free.
