Traditional dance groups from every culture and country are invited to audition for an opportunity to participate in the annual World Dance Showcase at the Public Playhouse March 19, 2011. The deadline to sign up is Jan. 12, 2011, and auditions are set for Jan. 16. The audition snow date is Jan. 23.
Auditions are open to performers age 16 and older. There is no fee to audition. Any traditional work of up to 15 min. may be auditioned in finished form with authentic costumes. Six presentations will be selected for inclusion in the showcase.
Each selected group will receive a $500 award. Auditions are by appointment only. Register online for an audition appointment at arts.pgparks.com, or call (301) 446-3232.
