Film: "Education Under Fire" at the Reel & Meal at the New Deal
August Reel and Meal to Show “Education Under Fire”
The Reel and Meal at the New Deal will show the film Education Under Fire at 7:00 pm on Monday, August 20 at the New Deal Cafe. This documentary, co-sponsored by Amnesty International, depicts the plight of Baha'i youth in Iran, who have been systematically denied access to higher education. After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Baha'i faculty and students were expelled from Iranian universities and have been barred from higher education ever since. Discussion following the film will be led by Dr. Haideh Sabet, M.D. , who will share with us what we can do to address this human rights violation.
This event is one in a series of monthly films that explores environmental, social justice and animal rights issues. Chef Karim will prepare an optional vegan meal for $13.00 (no credit cards) starting at 6:30 pm. For more information please contact donna.hoffmeister@verizon.net.
