Cast of Characters -  All roles open

Harry Brock – A wealthy junk dealer from New Jersey.  40’s to 50.  A large, even “gross” man (Kanin’s description.)  Always in control.  Is used to being obeyed when he gives orders.  Has no respect for anyone, no matter his/her position.  Can be cruel and vindictive, but has an occasional soft spot.

Billie Dawn -  Harry’s mistress for the past seven years. 30’s. Strikingly beautiful (according to the script!) and also quite simple, uneducated, shrewd. Her way of getting what she wants:  “If he don’t come across, I don’t come across.”

Paul Verrall – A Washington Journalist.  Mid to late 30’s. Personable, alert, clever, energetic.  Takes himself a bit too seriously.  Wears glasses.

Ed Devery – Harry’s attorney.  50’s to 60’s. Once a brilliant lawyer and secretary to a great Supreme Court Justice, now has only one client and a serious addiction to Scotch.  Always a little drunk.

Senator Norval Hedges – A U.S. Senator.  60’s to mid 70’s. Pale, worn, looks like, but isn’t, a great man.

Mrs. Hedges – His wife. Early to late 60’s. Fashionable.  Bridge player. Timid.

Eddie Brock - Harry's cousin. 40's.  The muscle in Harry's entourage. Strong, not too sharp, sycophantic.

Asst. Manager, Helen (a maid,) Bellhop, Barber, Manicurist, Bootblack, Waiter.  Some of these roles may double

Prince George's Little Theatre, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit all volunteer organization. No positions or roles are paid.
