Old Greenbelt Neighborhood Watch Hosts National Night Out

The city of Greenbelt hosted several events for National Night Out on Aug. 6.

Dozens of Greenbelt residents stopped by the National Night Out event in Roosevelt Center Tuesday night, hosted by the Old Greenbelt Neighborhood Watch.

Free hot dogs and soda were served. Junior Girl Scouts from Troop 5859 scooped up free cups of Rita's Italian Ice.

Several city council members attended the event. Police officers from the K-9 unit chatted with residents and brought some of their canine officers, who hail from the Netherlands and Czechoslovakia.

Residents could get up close and personal with a vintage fire truck, enjoy free giveaways from the library and watch a hovercraft from Club 125 take flight.
