Our Labor Day Festival cheat sheet gives you deadlines and dates of opportunities and events at-a-glance. If something sparks your interest, we also provide links to details and rules. So don’t rely on your cheat sheet alone.

There are other events in the Labor Day Festival besides those listed. We show opportunities that are still open as of Wednesday, Aug. 17, some of which will be open up until kickoff.

- You have until 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2, to get your art show entries in to the .
- The show runs Saturday, Sept. 3, through Monday, Sept. 5.
- Entries need to be completely original; they should not have shown in a previous Labor Day art show; and they should be ready for display.
- The event is divided into two shows; one for adults and one for children/teens.
- It’s a great opportunity to meet and mingle with other artists.
- Though it had faded out of the Labor Day Festival, the craft fair will reemerge this year on Sunday, Sept. 4, noon to 7 p.m.
- Crafts of all kinds are welcome, but they must be homemade.
- There are a limited number of craft fair tables, so submit the sign up sheet now to reserve your table, while they last.
- Craft fair tables may not sell or give away food.
- The Greenbelt Idols competition will be held on the main stage from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2.

- To compete you’ll need to have a song selection; be prepared to sing a cappella or bring a CD to accompany your voice; provide a bio; and give a reason for your song selection.
- There's still time to sign up as a "green" volunteer.
- Training is Saturday, Aug. 20, from 11 a.m. to noon in the buiding. Greenbelt's Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (Green ACES) has partnered with public works to get trash and recycling bins side-by-side during the festival.
- Green ACES has encouraged vendors to offer recyclable dinnerware.
- Now all they need are volunteers to encourage and help festival-goers to recycle.

- Takes place Sunday, Sept. 4, with the 15K starting at 5:00 p.m., and the 3K starting at 5:10 p.m.
- The 3K course follows the scenic path around Greenbelt Lake in Buddy Attick Park.
- The 15K course goes through USDA's Beltsville Agricultural Research Center. Thanks to DC Road Runners Club for the course maps our links take you to.
- This is a fundraiser conducted by the DC Road Runners Club, to benefit to benefit Girls Gotta Run.
- Parade participant forms were requested by Aug. 15. If you missed the date, you can still turn them in, but please be quick.
- The parade takes place on Labor Day, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon.
- The parade route runs along Crescent Road, starting at Green Hill Road and ending at Centerway.
- Bring your photos and the registration form to the Greenbelt Community Center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 1, or Friday, Sept. 2.
- The event is open to the public Sept. 3 through Sept. 5
- The competition is open to all ages.
- You can enter up to two photos.
- The deadline for the talent show is fast approaching. Tryouts are Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 20, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Greenbelt Community Center.
- The show is Saturday, Sept. 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Talents may include: dancers, violinists, pianists, guitarists, singers, poets, comedians and you name it.
- It's open to all ages.
