Hang onto your memories of the warm, sunny weather as rain descends on the region and temperatures plummet.

On Tuesday, a gale warning is in effect on Maryland's waters, and thunderstorms in the late morning and early afternoon may cause localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service. Winds may gust up to 40 mph.

Next, a freeze warning is in effect for most of central Maryland Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning is from midnight to 9 a.m. Wednesday for northern Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Howard and Montgomery counties, the weather service reported.

It's from 3 to 9 a.m. Wednesday for southern Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties, according to the weather service.

Temperatures will be in the low 30s, according to the forecast.

Unprotected cold-sensitive vegetation will die, so cover those plants.
