DESCRIPTION:The Gaithersburg Book Festival is holding a Short Story Conte
 st for all high school students (grades 9-12\; public\, private\, or hom
 eschooled) living in Maryland\, Virginia\, or Washington\, D.C. Short st
 ories must be no longer than 1\,000 words and must begin with one of thr
 ee lines provided on the contest website. All entries must be submitted 
 electronically as a Word document by February 24\, 2012. Up to ten stori
 es will be chosen as finalists and posted on the Gaithersburg Book Festi
 val website prior to the Festival. The first\, second\, and third place 
 winners will be announced at the Book Festival on Saturday\, May 19\, 20
 12\, and will receive prizes of $100\, $50\, and $25\, respectively\, pr
