More About Eleanor Roosevelt High School
With a staff and faculty of 150 and about 3,000 students, this academic institution was named after the wife of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and is one of the largest public schools in Maryland. The school has twice been recognized as a Blue Ribbon School by the Department of Education (1991 and 1998) and is the 2002-2003 winner of the Siemens Award for Advanced Placement. Core subjects include English, math, social studies and science. ERHS offers a variety of electives, including television productions, child development, technology education, art and music. The school also has a Junior ROTC program and athletics programs in such sports as basketball, baseball, golf, soccer, cross county, football, lacrosse, tennis and track and field.
