The Karp Family School of Mishkan Torah Synagogue will be holding its annual Tu B'Shvat Seder in conjunction with its monthly family service on Friday, February 3 at 6 p.m. The Tu B’Shvat Seder is a wonderful communal potluck dining experience and it celebrates the New Year of the Trees, the Jewish equivalent of Arbor Day.
It features four cups of wine (actually grape juice!); the tasting of all kinds of fruits and nuts from trees; songs; and dance. The event will also explore how Jewish environmentalism has developed over the centuries.
The monthly Shabbat family service will begin immediately after the conclusion of the Seder at 7:30 p.m. Please bring either a dairy or meatless pareve dish to pass for the Seder. For the potluck, the kitchen will be off-limits, and anything commercially prepared must have a kosher heckshar.
There is no charge for this event. However, if you want to attend, you must either RSVP online or by calling 301-474-4223 to RSVP. You must RSVP by Friday, January 27.
Mishkan Torah is located at 10 Ridge Road, Greenbelt, Maryland 20770. It is affiliated with the Reconstructionist and Conservative movements.
