Who's Greenbelt's Person of the Year?
TIME magazine named President Obama their person of the year for the second time. Tell us who you think should win from our city!
On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Obama their Person of the Year, again!
The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including the president, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, and Apple CEO Tim Cook. But, the president took the title again four years after he first won the award as president-elect in 2008.
But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Greenbelt’s Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse”?

It sure will be hard to beat John Henry come Labor Day, when that person is chosen. Historically it's been someone who has been influential for many years. Adding the urgency of "this year" might produce an interesting change.

Erik Zhang, without question. Eric has documented Greenbelt activities, in all sections of the city, throughout the year. We know more about our City, our neighbors and all that Greenbelt has to offer because of his wonderful photographs and well researched texts. He covered not only the City wide happenings, such as the 75 th Anniversary events, but also those that were small and individually initiated , such as the community carol singers. He captured our vital city, not only its people, but its lakes, streets, inner walkways, parks. He recorded sunsets, sunrises, cloud formations. that reminded us that beauty is around us everday. He has my vote.
