New Deal Café Up For WTOP's Best Local Music Venue

The New Deal Café's bar manager asks Facebook friends to vote in the "WTOP Top 10."

Amethyst Dwyer began a Facebook campaign Thursday to get the New Deal Café in WTOP's "Best Local Music Venue" competition.

"Vote for Greenbelt's community living room - The New Deal Cafe!! :) It only takes a few seconds," New Deal Music Coordinator Dwyer tells Facebook friends.

The competition is the "WTOP Top 10". Its website doesn't show the venues that are getting the votes until next week, but the New Deal has Dwyer's and three friends votes, plus, ahem, one biased editor's.

But is it really a bias? The New Deal is raking the talent into our little green city.

Be on the lookout as well on July 23, when Patch's Readers' Choice polls begin. The Old Greenbelt Theatre is up for best movie theater and Gretchen Schock is up for best yoga instructor.

Editor's Note: This story has been updated to clarify Amethyst Dwyer's title.
