Holiday Celebration Alternatives for the Whole Family

Some families have Christmas traditions that span centuries or they do not celebrate Christmas at all, whether you're trying something new or want to celebrate the holiday a different way, here are some business around town that will be open Dec. 25.

 

The tree is trimmed, stockings are hung and presents are piling up near the base, now what? If going to grandma's for Christmas is out of the question, there are a few other options for Greenbelters on the lookout for a new holiday tradition.

Head out to the movies on Christmas Day, both the Old Greenbelt Theatre and the Academy Stadium Theater in Beltway Plaza will be open. The Old Greenbelt Theatre has about 400 seats and will be showing the critically acclaimed film "Black Swan," while this may not be a movie for the whole family to enjoy it is an intense artsy psychological thriller that sparks great conversation. For a film the whole family can watch, head over to the Academy Stadium Theater for all of your kid-friendly flicks: "Tron," "Yogi Bear," "Tangled" and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader."
